Maintenance
At the beginning of each season check the hardware - nuts, bolts, acorn nuts - and tighten as needed. Inspect swing seats, swing hangers, chains, ladders, slides, ropes and wood components for signs of deterioration or sharp edges and replace if necessary. Spot sand any areas that are sharp or splintering. Check to make sure all ropes are tight and that all suspended items are secured (ropes and chains). Grease the tire swing swivel. Clean all plastic parts (slides, bubble panels, etc.) with an organic dishwashing detergent and all vinyl coated parts (rungs, brackets, etc.) with a bathroom tile cleaner. If the vinyl parts are difficult to get clean, we have a cleaning product available that does a good job. The product name is Grunge Away. Contact the showroom for current pricing. Replace the ropes as needed, possibly every couple of years or so. These are normal wearing items which will fade and may splinter over time.
TIGHTENING & INSPECTION SERVICE: Rainbow Recreation offers a complete play system tighten and inspection service. The cost is $75. Please contact the showroom to order.
STAIN & SEAL: To maintain the beauty of your system we recommend you seal your play system after the first year, then periodically as needed. Spot sand rough areas before sealing. Power-washing the set may be necessary depending on the condition of the set. A high-quality stain/sealer product, preferably oil based, is recommended to treat your redwood play system. For over 15 years our customers have chosen to use Superdeck Stain/Sealer that we have available at our Chesterfield Showroom. The current cost is $37 per gallon. The quanitity you will need will depend on the size and features of your play system. Most customers will take 2 gallons. If you have leftover stain, keep the gallon sealed tightly to use the next time you need it.
We do not offer a stain & seal service directly, however we do refer to certain independent contractors that perform this service regularly. Please contact the showroom for information on our current contractors.
We can assist with your play system move, whether it be a move, tear-down, or re-install. Costs vary by play system model and features. Please contact the showroom for an estimated move cost. Be sure to give us plenty of notice as a Move Order can take more than 2 weeks to work into our schedule. Play system moves occasionally encounter difficulties due to parts or yard issues. These concerns are outlined in our Move Agreement form which is a required step in our move order process.
The minimum costs are: Move - $400, Tear-down - $200, Re-install - $300.
Most parts from prior year models are still available. Part #'s or photos and part dimensions are helpful in identifying specific parts needed. Some parts that are in the current model line-up may not fit prior year sets. Prior year parts typically take 4-6 weeks to get. Contact the showroom for assistance.
REPLACEMENT CANOPIES are available and are specific to the year and model of your play system. The typical cost is from $120 to $200. To get the correct canopy we need to know the original year and model of the play system. If this information is not available, measurements of the existing canopy may be sufficient. If the canopy is missing, measurements can be made by wrapping a string from one end of where the canopy snap attaches to the other end, then measuring the length of string. The other measurement will be along the tarp board from one end snap to the other. Replacement canopies are an order item, made at the factory to fit the specific play system. Canopy orders ship UPS to your residence and typically take 3-4 weeks. Contact the showroom to order.
RAINBOW PLAY SYSTEMS
The warranty for your Rainbow Play System comes directly from the Rainbow Factory. The factory warranty time period has varied over the years, ranging from 1-5 years on accessories and from 10 years to Lifetime on the wood. The warranty is to the original owner only and is not transferable. The warranty covers parts only. Shipping costs, delivery costs, and/or labor costs are not covered under the warranty. Storm damage is not a warranty situation. Warranty parts typically take 4-6 weeks to get.
Information required to submit a warranty claim includes:
1. Proof of original ownership, including confirmation of the original year and model of the play system.
2. Name, address, phone and email contact information
3. Evidence of the defect - typically by photo (jpeg format required) - close enough to see the damage but also with enough perspective to be able to identify the part. If you are unsure, on most photos we can zoom in to see the damage, or multiple photos are acceptable.
4. Description and dimensions (particularly the length) of the parts needed
Warranty canopies require a $20 shipping charge to be paid in advance.
This information can be submitted by email to Rainbow Recreation. The email address is: showroom@rainbowstl.com
